Pastor Gary Dittman

Pastor Gary arrived to Amazing Grace in the Fall of 2009.  He is married to Karen, a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Having studies Drama at Young Harris College and majored in Speech and Drama and Religion at Lagrange College in Georgia, he felt called into ministry of Word and Sacrament.  He is a graduate of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and is grateful God has called him to serve and walk with the people of Amazing Grace and East Baltimore.


Jennifer Kunze – Environmental Education and Community Garden Engagement

Jennifer graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in May, where she studied Math and History and worked with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and the Student Environmental Action Coalition.  This year, Jennifer has an internship with Amazing Grace’s food ministry and urban gardening programs through the Chesapeake Conservation Corps.  Jennifer likes cooking, reading, local history, science fiction, and making music, and looks forward to learning from the amazing people at Amazing Grace.

Rev. Carol Perlie – Minister of Health and Healing


Carol L. Perlie is a native of Baltimore.  She serves in the capacity of Office Administrator and Minister of Health and Healing.  She facilitates the food pantry, healing and spiritual bible studies, outreach healing services, and provides ad hoc assistance to individuals in addiction and/or recovery according to their need.   She is a psalmist, a preacher, an evangelist, a spiritual and pastoral care counselor, and teacher not only to the community of Amazing Grace but to other partnering communities as well.


She has earned a BS degree in Business Management from Morgan State University, an MA degree in Spiritual and Pastoral Care from Loyola College, and a MA degree in Church Ministries with a concentration in Congregational Leadership from St. Mary’s Seminary & University. She was ordained and licensed in 2008.


Chef Daisy Brown – Soup Kitchen/Special Events

Daisy is a native of Baltimore proudly hailing from Sandtown Winchester community of West Baltimore. She prepares and serves in the Bread for the Journey soup kitchen held here at Amazing Grace every Tuesday in the fellowship hall from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.  Also work a few days during the week working with the after school program offering cooking lessons, food education and trying new foods, practicing proper manners around the dinning table and towards each other. From time to time you may find our chef catering special events held at the church.

She has worked in the field of childcare for 15yrs., attended Stratford University for baking and cooking receiving certification from ServSafe for food handling, certification in food handling from ServSafe in food management as well a national certification in customer service. Daisy considers cooking and baking a ministry and makes it a priority to be of service.

Natalie Cohen – Environmental Educator/Coordinator

Dennis Sherman – Musician

Dennis Sherman, resident Bass Player at Amazing Grace, was born and raised in East Baltimore.  After trying several musical instruments through out his early childhood, he began playing bass guitar at age twelve, and played with several Baltimore area bands.
Though he is also a freelance bass player, he finds playing at Amazing Grace to be very rewarding and spiritually uplifting.  Dennis feels like his musical talent comes from God, his parents and his school music teachers.

He is also Sexton at Amazing Grace and is a computer hardware technician.
