-Bread for the Journey-
Food Ministry
Food insecurity is a real challenge for many neighbors in McElderry Park and the surrounding communities. Access to full-service supermarkets and healthy food that is affordable can be difficult and many neighbors are vulnerable due to a lack of steady income or safe places to live. Bread for the Journey is one way we respond to these challenges, both increasing access and building community as we fellowship together.
With the support of partners including Maryland Food Bank & ShareBaby, neighbors shop for free food, diapers & household items at the neighbor-choice pantry every Thursday from 10am-12pm. We break bread together at the Tuesday community meal at 12pm. We sometimes also learn to prepare budget-friendly healthy food through cooking classes together. All of this work is designed to bring food security to families and create opportunities for deeper connections.
We are grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve and look forward to being able to sit down and break bread together with you and your family!
